1. Information We Collect

Music Moments collects anonymous usage analytics to understand how users interact with the extension and improve the experience. The data we collect includes:

• Usage Events: When you create moments, play moments, delete moments, enable/disable loop mode, or use lyrics features
• Anonymous User ID: A randomly generated identifier stored locally on your device
• Event Timestamps: When actions occur (automatically generated by our database)
• Moment Duration: Length of music moments you create (rounded to 1 decimal place)
• Creation Source: Whether moments were created via progress bar or lyrics (generic indicators only)

3. How We Use Your Data

The anonymous usage data we collect is used solely to:

• Understand which features are most valuable to users
• Identify and fix bugs
• Improve the user experience
• Make informed decisions about future features

We do NOT sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

4. Your Consent & Control

Music Moments asks for your explicit consent before collecting any analytics data:

• Opt-In Consent: On first use, you'll see a dialog asking if you want to help improve Music Moments
• Completely Optional: You can decline analytics and still use all features
• Change Anytime: You can enable or disable analytics at any time in settings
• No Penalty: Declining analytics does not limit functionality in any way

5. Data Storage & Security

Analytics data is stored securely using Supabase, a trusted database platform:

• Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections
• Only anonymous event data is stored (no personally identifiable information)
• Your anonymous user ID is stored locally on your device in Chrome's secure storage
• Events are batched and sent periodically to minimize network requests

6. Local Data Storage

Music Moments stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's storage API:

• Your Music Moments: Start/end times, song URIs (Spotify identifiers), and optional comments
• User Preferences: Analytics consent status, onboarding completion, early adopter status
• Anonymous User ID: A random identifier for analytics (if enabled)

This local data remains on your device and is NOT transmitted to our servers. It is only used to provide core functionality within Spotify.

7. Chrome Permissions

Music Moments requests the following permissions:

• Storage: To save your music moments and preferences locally
• Host Permissions (open.spotify.com): To interact with Spotify's web player and add our interface
• Host Permissions (supabase.co): To send anonymous analytics events (only if you opt-in)

We only request permissions necessary for core functionality and never access data outside these scopes.

8. Children's Privacy

Music Moments does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The extension is intended for general audiences using Spotify's web player.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do:

• The "Last Updated" date at the top will be changed
• Significant changes will be communicated through the extension (if technically feasible)
• Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy
